The Quick Dispatch - Flight Sharing On Your Website

What's the Quick Dispatch widget?

It is a little HTML code snippet which can be added to any website in one simple step. It gives any pilot instant access to worldaeroclub.org's global GA flight sharing database, allowing pilots to file their flights and flight-inquiries with one single command line. Find a flying buddy or safety pilot with a simple click.

The widget adds one button to your website (anywhere you want). Clicking it will open a small window presenting the user with the Quick Dispatch form which expects your entry in the following simple format:
[user]  [departure airport]  [arrival airport]  [date]  [mode]

So, how exactly does this work?

Simply use your WAC member-id to send your flight or flight-inquiry to the WAC Flight Dispatch. Let's pretend you were user ID "123". Here are some examples:

  • Filing your flight
Your flight from Santa Rosa to Merced on April 30th, 2011:
123 KSTS KMCE 20110430 F    (Note mode "F" for "Flight")

  • Filing your flight-inquiry (you inquire somebody else's flight)
A flight from Oakland to South Lake Tahoe on August 14th, 2011:
123 KOAK KTVL 20110814 I    (Note mode "I" for "Inquiry"))

  • Canceling your flight
Your flight from KSTS to KMCE was confirmed with flight number T567:
123 T567 FC    (Note the flight number and "FC" for "Flight Cancel") )

  • Canceling your inquiry
Your inquiry for KOAK to KTVL was confirmed with inquiry number T321R:
123 T321R IC    (Note the inquiry number and "IC" for "Inquiry Cancel")

Click the dispatch button below to see it work.

I Want this Widget On My Aviation Website

Simply copy / paste the following code snippets into your website's <header> and <body> section. This will place a button of your choice on your page which presents the Quick Dispatch form in a separate little window. The reason for a separate window (pop-up window) lies simply in the brevety of its content: It's only a two-field form with a submit button which looked odd if it occupied the entire space of your main browser window. Besides, this way the content of the originating webpage is not cleared out to give way for the little dispatch form. We think it's a more practical solution. To see what it looks like click here.
